Mentoring requires a change in attitude towards becoming more coach-like and less star-like. Good mentors offer empathy, time, resist the urge to take over, ask questions rather than provide answers, engage in role plays, voice their expectations and assumptions, view the partner as a whole person and recognize that benefits that accrue to themselves as a result of mentoring.
